The LAW Way

Where law, purpose, and personal transformation meet.

From the Courtroom to the Cake Shop: My Journey as an Artistic Cake Decorator.

Before I began my legal career in the United States, my life in Venezuela was a mix of law and creativity. As an attorney working as a Judicial Secretary (Secretario Judicial) in the family court, I was deeply immersed in the legal field. Despite this, I discovered a passion for baking that quickly became a big part of my life.

Coming from a family of talented bakers—my great-grandmother being a skilled pastry artist—I was naturally drawn to the art of cake baking and decorating. This passion led to the creation of ConstruCakes, a business where I combined my legal precision with artistic flair to craft cakes that were not just desserts but works of art. Alongside Johan, my then-husband, who brought his graphic design skills to the table, we embraced the motto, “If you can think it, we can construct it,” allowing us to create innovative and personalized cakes that delighted our customers.

A Walk Down Memory Lane: My First Cake and Beyond

My very first decorated cake was quite an ambitious project—a Louis Vuitton briefcase-shaped cake for the Chief Judge’s birthday at the family court in Venezuela. With no tools and no formal training, I relied solely on my intuition, and the cake was a resounding success. It was this moment that truly ignited my passion for cake decorating.

Here’s a glimpse of that first cake and other creations I’ve made over the years:

In 2015, I moved to Miami, Florida, where I continued making artistic cakes. By 2018, I decided to focus on my legal career, starting as a legal assistant in a private law firm. Although I no longer run ConstruCakes as a business, baking and decorating custom cakes remains one of my biggest passions. I often prepare cakes for birthdays and events at the law firms where I work, bringing a little bit of sweetness to my colleagues.

One of my proudest moments in Miami was creating a cake for the final class of the Miami Dade Police Citizens Academy, featuring the academy’s logo. It was a true honor to contribute to such a meaningful occasion.

While my main focus is now on law, cake decorating still holds a special place in my life. It’s a creative outlet that brings me joy and allows me to share a piece of my passion with others.
